Is Proxy legally allowed in Qatar????

I live in Qatar and a guy who lived beside my house (he is an computer engineer) told me we should not us eproxies in qatar . I am Feared i did not understand what he mean and next day he went to india. So pls help me i dont want to do hack or something i just want to use that Hide IP Platinum and i saw it uses proxy servers.. MIne is an ADSL Connection. So pls provide me information what is a proxy?? and other details..AND IN SIMPLE WORDS DONT MAKE IT COMPLICATED. HOPE I WILL GET AN ANSWER SOON...........Pls someone help

Let me give some background info before answering your question. Some countries want to restrict your Internet access to certain sites. The restriction is to prevent their resident from accessing undesirable sites. They implement the restriction by having a FIREWALL. Any access to a site has to go through the Firewall, which check if the site is acceptable or not. If it is OK to access it will let you go through. As you could imagine, the firewall could also be used to monitor your access pattern.





One way to avoid the access restriction imposed by the firewall is to use a proxy. Any site access you make will appear to the firewall as an access to the proxy and therefore by using a proxy you are avoiding any site access restriction the country wants to impose. I would imagine that is why it could be illegal.

In simple words if you have taken one Internet Connection, proxy server helps you in sharing that connection with multiple hosts (computers)
