How can I block a proxy servers on my network?. What is the proxy ports or proxy IPs?

I am using Firewall, I can providing safety area for my clients. But some clients are using proxy for illegal search.

Depending on the type of firewall you are using filtering out proxies can be difficult since (i'm assuming this is an http proxy) proxy traffic can look just like http traffic. You'd need to know which proxy (IP address) they are using and block the particular IP. As for port it's usuaully the http port (80) since most corp firewalls don't block outgoing http traffic.

One thing you may want to do is setup your own proxy and force everyone to use that and block all outgoing traffic to everyone since proxies can run on any port the only way to know for sure is to block everything :) (you'd need to setup a proxy for every outgoing service your network may need) If you really need this much security within your own network you'll have to take drastic measures such as this.
Reply:It's going to be almost impossible without some type of third party software. If you close port 80 (http), you block all internet access. If you open port 80 for the internet, any proxy server can be accessed. There are thousands of them and their IPs change constantly. You can't block them successfully without a constantly updating list (hence the third party software).

You need some type of surfware. Otherwise... flat-out hopeless.

Proxy Problems?

I work at a Best Buy and I brought my laptop in and surfed the net on their wireless network for a little while. In order to use it, I needed to get past the proxy and did so. The guys at Geek Squad optimized the computer as well. iTunes, IE, and AIM 6.0 all worked fine at the store. Now I'm back at the house on my wireless network and I can no longer connect to iTunes, internet explorer, or AIM 6.0, only Mozilla Firefox. I had a similar problem with my wireless desktop before and resolved that by restoring the computer. Is it possible by using anothers network, I f'ed up my network in the process? And how would I solve a problem like this without restoring my laptop? Is it possible they disabled that network setting in the process of connecting or optimizing the computer?

Open your Internet Explorer, goto Extra - Options - Internet Options - Connections. Click the "Lan settings" button at the bottom. Check to see if a proxy has been entered. If so, remove the checkmark and see if you can surf the internet again with Internet Explorer (don't know why you'd want to, since Firefox is the better/safer browser, but anyways...).

A lot of programs use the Internet Explorers proxy settings, so if you can surf the net using Internet Explorer, all other programs should work just fine again, too.

Hi everyone, just a quick question I wanting to know of a proxy server address (preferbly anoymous) that will allow me to be able to post comments / see every picture posted / reply to bullietins and send messages on myspace. Originaly I was using www.hidemyass.com which was awesome until the IT department found the address and blocked it.

I've fried all the server address on gtnetwork. Is there any address you may know of or have used that will allow me to post comments. Thanks so much!!!

You can't and you shouldn't even try because that is against the acceptable use policy at your school. They have sites blocked for a reason and trying to bypass their security will get you banned from using any of their their computers and probably even suspended or expelled. They track everything you do and you will get caught.

Reply:Trust me, don't bother trying to bypass any restrictions the school has on it's computers.

I have done it on several occasions, when found out I have been threatened with several fines, exclusions from school, parents notified, a ban from using the computers completely and my GCSE's being made invalid (all of them). Luckily I stopped and none of these happened.

My advice, do not do it. Just wait until you get home.

Besides, the school can see what data flows in and out of it's network. That is to say, that will see what you post, what you edit and your username/password.

A great service that meets these criteria is http://webfreed.com They post private (hidden) proxies that are under 1 week old. WebFreed also offers proxy list by rss feed so you can have access to the proxies even if their site gets blocked (through public feed readers).

My work blocks everything (I'm working in a financial institution so the rules are strict in here) and, yet, I have been able to use their service without problems.

Trying to bypass their security is considered hacking and will get you banned from using any of their computers and probably even suspended or expelled.

They can see and are tracking everything you do so you WILL get caught. Not being able to use the computers at all would suck way worse than just using them to view allowed sites - wouldn't it?
